Nigeria Vs. Boko Haram: 8 Facts

Initial indications suggest that Nigeria is winning this one. By 20 May it claimed to have secured five areas in the three states, destroying Boko Haram camps there. Many were successfully targeted with air strikes. The military also arrested numerous fighters - in one swoop they nabbed 120 militants during a funeral. An official announced that the group was in disarray and large numbers of fighters were fleeing across the border. The campaign appears to have Boko Haram on the run and it has requested help from Niger in securing their joint border, as well as arrest members of the group. The state of Yobe has already ceased to be under a 24-hour curfew.
