I Will Like To Delve Into Music – Bovi

Ace comedian, Bovi Ugboma has revealed that he will like to go into music as an added career, asides comedy and acting.Bovi was a guest on Channels Television Entertainment News, where he spoke about his success and challenges in the industry.

Speaking on his acting career, he said that keeping up with acting is a very challenging area in his life, stating that he was an actor and a producer at the same time , which he said was a nightmare when you have to consider all the logistics involved.

Bovi said after he stopped acting, he decided to take up comedy first by doing stand-up comedies, stating that comedy has taken him thus far but aims to be better.

He added that much later in life he would like to delve into music, as a career not minding how it turns out, “it is just a way of getting people’s attention with what I do artistically”, adding that he loves to entertain and music is also part of entertainment.

He advised that “it’s good to follow your passion because when you grow old you start regretting those things you ...Video Below

An angry mob has set three suspected armed robbers ablaze in Ikotun, Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learnt on Thursday that the robbers were set on fire on Wednesday evening, shortly after robbing a recharge card trader at Second Junction bus stop on Governor’s Road.
Our correspondent, who visited the area, observed burnt tyres, carcass of a burnt motorcycle and some human flesh on the side of the road.
The recharge card trader, Ese Akporhono, who had a bandage on her head, told our correspondent that the robbers came to her shop posing as customers.
She said a few seconds later, the suspects pointed a gun at her and stole recharge cards worth N400,000 before fleeing.
She said, “Around 5pm, I was closing the shop when the men approached me saying they wanted to buy recharge card.
“Before I knew what was happening, the men brought out guns and went into my shop, They stole recharge cards and money. I engaged them in a struggle and attempted to prevent them from fleeing. They overpowered me and used the butts of their guns to hit me in the face and head.”
Our correspondent learnt that the robbers allegedly snatched a motorcycle and shot a man in the area and were fleeing when a motorist knocked them down.
An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, said a bystander prevented them from fleeing as he pelted them with stones while they were attempting to stand up.
Other residents quickly joined the bystander and grabbed the weak robbers, beating them up to a pulp.
He said, “After the vehicle knocked them down while they were attempting to escape, we seized them and beat them to a pulp. The crowd grew larger and this attracted the attention of policemen.”
Our correspondent learnt that a team of policemen from Ikotun Police Station stormed the scene and attempted to rescue the robbers but were overwhelmed by the mob.
It was learnt that policemen even fired gunshots into the air but the mob remained adamant.
A woman, who runs a bar in the area, said another team of policemen also arrived from Area M, Idimu, but the mob set the robbers ablaze.
She said, “The policemen came in a patrol vehicle and asked the crowd to hand over the robbers but they refused because they did not trust the police.
“Another team of policemen also came but the crowd ignored them. Some of them (crowd) got tyres, placed them round the robbers’ necks and set them ablaze.
“They however handed over their guns to the police.”
When asked why the residents took laws into their own hands, the woman said there had been an increase in robbery in the area and the police had failed them.
She said, “It is because armed robbers have been terrorising us that is why we close our shops early. Last year, a pregnant woman was robbed and killed in this area.
“We cannot continue to fold our arms. By this act, robbers will be afraid anytime they think of coming here.”
Akporhono told our correspondent that her recharge cards were still with the police and they had refused to return them to her.
“Police are holding my recharge cards as exhibit, I want them back because I am the victim,” she said.
When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said she was aware of the incident and promised to call back.More pics below

Jonathan stops arbitrary contract cost variation by ministers

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday ordered his ministers to, henceforth, stop their penchant for indiscriminate requests for augmentation or variation of the cost of projects.

He said in a situation where augmentation became inevitable, such cost variation should not exceed 15 per cent of the original cost of the projects.

The President gave the directive during the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The ministers of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, and Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Muhammed, briefed journalists on the outcome of the meeting.

Maku said the President expressed displeasure over situations where the variations being sought by ministers were more than the original costs of the affected projects.

He said Jonathan was of the view that if officials in Ministries, Departments and Agencies did their job well, there would not be any need for variation requests.

The President directed that henceforth, the MDAs must ensure the proper verification of the actual workloads so that the culture of variation would not continue.

He also directed the Bureau of Public Procurement to stop entertaining requests for augmentation of contract sums.

Maku said, “Mr. President gave a directive to all members of council to henceforth not bring any augmentation to council that is beyond 15 per cent of the original cost of the projects.

“The President frowned on a situation in which sometimes augmentation or variations of contracts end up being higher than the original contracts awarded.

“Mr. President believes that if MDAs do their jobs thoroughly through proper planning, and of course, cost evaluation before award, the incidence of half valuation of contracts will be avoided; and so, he gave a directive that henceforth, any MDA that has any variation on a contract that goes beyond 15 per cent should not present it to council unless that variation has the President’s personal approval.

“He also directed the BPP not to entertain any application for valuation of contracts that exceed 15 per cent of the original cost, and he also insisted that ministers and agencies of government must ensure that in giving awards of contract, we verify the actual workload that is expected, that we ensure proper valuation of our projects so that we will not continue with this pattern of variation of contracts that sometimes go so high as 100 per cent of the original contract awarded.

“So, it is expected that all agencies of government, which are in the process of giving awards for contracts, must make sure that they are thorough in the pre-plan stage for those projects and also ensure that the costing is professional to avoid variations that go very high and leave the cost to the government.”

Muhammed said FEC approved his ministry’s memo for the development of second phase of the Guzape District in the FCT at a cost of N22.6bn.

The minister said the development would enable the FCT to accommodate members of the diplomatic community, who were increasing daily.

The contract is for the provision of roads and engineering infrastructure for a new layout and diplomatic area in the district.

He said, “The areas were laid out and allocated in 2005 to meet the aspirations of members of the National Assembly, well-placed Nigerians, diplomatic missions and some members of the general public.

“The projected employment generation opportunity that will emanate from construction activities following the implementation of the project is expected to be in the neighbourhood of 600 employees.”
