‘Tinubu’s hold on Lagos’ll end in 2015’

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Gbadamosi, has said the people of the state will liberate themselves from the grip of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in 2015.

He said there was no way the former governor of the state would continue to determine the future of the people of the state, adding that the ruling party in the state, the All Progressives Congress, would not win the next governorship election.

Gbadamosi, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Sunday, asked the media not to be distracted with propaganda, which he said, was being used by the APC to deceive the people of the state.

He said, “There are issues in Lagos, upon which the media need to beam its searchlight. It will appear that to some extent, the public is being misled with what is going on in Lagos State: that there is unprecedented progress in Lagos, whereas what we have is unprecedented stagnation.

“There is a very serious infrastructure deficit in Lagos and we have never experienced the type of gridlock we are experiencing in the state now.

“You can spend six hours from Ibeju Lekki to Ojo or Agege. So, where are the projects we hear in the news? Most of the projects are just maintenance of what  have been on the grounds for decades because no new routes have been opened in the past 16 years.

“This is the first time we would experience such. Lagos was established in 1967 and between then, Lagos-Ikorodu Road was expanded and later Lagos -Ibadan Expressway was built and the Third Mainland Bridge was also built.

“I know that Lagos deserves better than what it is getting now. Things have been worse in the last 10 years.

“It is clear that the current government does not know what it is doing. The cost of N2.2bn per kilometre in the expansion of Lekki-Epe Road is criminal.

“It looks like the Lekki -Epe concession company  did not put down any kobo and yet it is milking people dry.”

Gbadamosi, who is from Ikorodu, also criticised the fees being  paid by the students of the Lagos State University, which he described as unimaginable.

He urged the Nigerian leaders to live by example by withdrawing their  children from private schools and enrol them in public schools.
